For instance, this two-piece set handcrafted by Sar Cowan at Sarkanys Rising tells a story of connection—two boards that fit together, share a carved heart, and interlock through a flowing S-curve handle.
Recently, Dawn sourced this canary wood from Cook Woods, a trusted supplier of premium lumber. Canary wood is known for its warm golden tones, vivid pinks and reds, and rich, flowing grain. Because of this natural variation, no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
The larger board measures 16" x 6" x 1". Meanwhile, its companion measures 12.75" x 5.5" x 1". Together, they form a cohesive, sculptural set. However, each board stands on its own as a fully functional charcuterie or serving board. Additionally, a handcrafted hanging loop handle makes storage easy and display-worthy.
A hand-carved heart cutout sits at the point where the two boards meet. Furthermore, the interlocking S-curve handle connects them visually and physically. Sar used a template from Crafted Elements as a design aid to guide the routing, before shaping each board entirely by hand. His maker's mark is burned into the wood of each piece.
This set is ideal for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings, or any milestone worth marking. Best of all, it arrives ready to display or use. We do custom work and engraving as well!
