Handcrafted Flat Spoon | Cawl Spoon | Reclaimed Hardwood Kitchen Spoon
For centuries, this kind of Hand Carved Flat Spoon have fed families. The Welsh call it a cawl spoon, and it is one of Sar’s favorites to make.
Sar hand-carves each spoon from reclaimed hardwood scraps, giving new life to wood that would otherwise be lost. No two pieces share the same grain, color, or character, making yours genuinely one of a kind.
These 6 to 8-inch spoons are ideal for soups, stews, and sauces, as the flat edge reaches every corner of a pan. The broad end glides along the bottom of a pot, while the tapered handle fits naturally in either hand.
Sar and Dawn finish every spoon with their own Wood Butter—a blend of food-grade beeswax and mineral oil mixed in the workshop. This conditioner enhances the grain and creates a food-safe surface. Simply re-apply Wood Butter every few months to keep the spoon at its best.
Each spoon is a working tool, a piece of functional art, and a connection to a long craft tradition. Sar’s 40 years of woodworking experience show in every piece.
