What You Get

Each long mystery box measures 9" × 4½" × 4½" and packs high-quality hardwood pen blanks from Sar's scrap pile. Significantly, Sar avoids using filler wood. Instead, he uses the same premium stock for these blanks that Sarkanys Rising utilizes in their finished pieces, ensuring real variety and real quality.

Depending on your selection, you will receive a mix of full-size blanks (~5¼" × ¾"), shorts (~3–3½"), and occasionally, longer-than-standard pieces over 5¼". As a result, every box yields enough wood for at least 20 slimline-style pens and 5 mesa-style pens. However, please note that kits are not included; you receive blanks only.

Three Boxes — Each Slightly Different

Box A, for instance, holds 20 full-size and 10 shorts. Conversely, Box B contains 2 long, 18 full-size, and 5 shorts. Finally, Box C provides 3 long, 17 full-size, and 5 shorts. Regardless of your choice, all boxes cost $18. For illustrative purposes, the images display one emptied box alongside the full boxes, allowing you to clearly see your blanks.

The Species Mix Is the Mystery

Sarkanys Rising proudly stocks over 50 premium wood species for pen blanks. This selection is built from a large purchase of high-quality 3/4" and 1" lumber, all expertly cut to pen blank size. These possibilities include (but are not limited to): Acacia, Acacia Mangium, Afzalia, Alder, Bocote, Buckeye Burl (Dyed & Stabilized), Buckeye Burl Stabilized, Canarywood, Cedar, Cherry, Brazilian Ebony, Extra Fancy Red Gum, Ironwood, Itauba, Katalox, Ancient Kauri, Koa, Koa Stabilized, African Mahogany, Honduran Mahogany, Maple, Maple Burl Stabilized (Dyed Purple), Maple Hard, Myrtle, Tasmanian Rose Myrtle, Oak, Bog Oak (with certificate), Osage Orange, Tiger Ribbon Padauk, Peroba Rosa, Pink Ivory, Purpleheart, Bolivian Rosewood, Swiss Pear, Tulipwood, Walnut, Claro Walnut, Peruvian Walnut, Wenge, and many more. Consequently, you will not know exactly which species you receive, but you can be assured that every blank will be quality hardwood.
