Some pieces of wood tell a story before they are ever turned. This Palo Verde crotchwood crystal ball holder came straight from our backyard here in Tucson, Arizona. It grew in our yard, fell into Sar's hands, and became something extraordinary.

Why This Piece Stands Out

Palo Verde is the Arizona state tree — and crotchwood is the dramatic section where a trunk splits into branches. That natural fork creates wild, swirling grain patterns that no mill-cut board can replicate. In this piece, the contrast between the golden sapwood and the rich, dark heartwood creates a living painting in wood. Spots of live edge remain exactly where Sar chose to leave them.

The Crystal Ball

The crystal ball is included and measures 60 mm (2.3"). That is a widely available size, so replacements are easy to find. The sphere sits perfectly in the hand-carved bowl. It transforms this holder from a display object into an experience — part sculpture, part mystical, entirely captivating.

An Important Safety Note

If you display this piece with a crystal ball near a window, please keep it away from direct sunlight. A crystal sphere will concentrate light and can burn the wood beneath it. Display safely away from direct sun.

Care Is Simple

Clean and condition the wood just as you normally would with wood butter.
