We shape each opener from Sar's scrap pile — quality hardwood offcuts from larger projects. The wood species and grain character differ in every piece. Some will look lighter, some darker. Some will show more figure. That is the nature of real wood, and it means every opener carries its own fingerprint. If you want a specific species, just ask — we can often accommodate custom requests.
Finished to Be Safe and Beautiful
We finish every opener with our own Wood Butter — a simple, food-safe blend of mineral oil and beeswax. It feeds the grain and protects the surface without harsh chemicals. We use this same finish on our cutting boards and kitchen tools.
