These bumpy bottle stoppers showcase Sar's most tactile work. Sar turns each handle with raised rings and ridges. This texture gives your fingers a secure grip. Your eyes also follow the unique patterns. Profiles vary wildly, so each piece of wood tells a different story.
Like all our scrap collections, these start in Tucson. We gather mixed hardwood offcuts from a 55-gallon bin. First, Sar selects the best pieces by eye. Next, Sar glues blanks together using a quartering method. Finally, Sar shapes each handle by hand on a lathe. Bumpy ring profiles emerge naturally from this process. Some are tight and stacked, while others flow smoothly. This gives every stopper a satisfying rhythm.
The collection features single-wood pieces in honey, cream, and dark tones. We also offer two-tone designs with contrasting grains. Some handles form classic cylinders with even bumps. Alternatively, others mimic chess pieces, torpedoes, or rounded cones. These silhouettes feel architectural. A few smooth pieces sneak in with faint rings because rules are just guidelines.
We use mixed workshop scrap for these items. Therefore, the exact species often remains a happy mystery. However, we guarantee the high quality of every piece. Sar selects each one for its great looks. We build them all by hand. Then, we apply a food-safe, high-gloss topcoat.
