Meet Sar – The Heart and Hands Behind Every Piece

From DevilDoc to Master Craftsman (With 40+ Years of Stubborn Perfectionism)

You know that friend who won’t let you leave the house with a crooked picture frame? That’s Rex. Except instead of picture frames, it’s every single piece of wood that passes through his hands in our Tucson workshop.

Known as “Doc” during his Navy days and “Sar” from his Sea Air Rescue work, our founder brings four decades of woodworking magic and that legendary military precision to everything we create. As a disabled Navy Corpsman who served with Marine units, he earned the honored title of “DevilDoc” — and honestly, that attention to detail that kept Marines safe now ensures every spoon, pen, and custom piece is absolutely perfect.

The Man Who Won’t Quit (Seriously, We’ve Tried)

Sar specializes in wood turning and carving, and his signature pieces will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about “just” a spoon or pen:

Hand-Carved Wooden Spoons — Each one gets the full Sar treatment. He’ll spend hours on a single spoon because “it’s not ready yet.” The result? Spoons so beautiful you’ll want to frame them (but please, use them — they’re happiest when they’re working).

Custom Turned Pens — These aren’t your basic office supply store pens. Sar turns each one like he’s crafting a tiny heirloom, because that’s exactly what he’s doing.

Custom Everything — Got an idea? Sar’s probably already three steps ahead of you, figuring out how to make it even better than you imagined.

When Military Precision Meets Artist’s Soul

Here’s the thing about Sar: he won’t let a piece go until it’s perfect. Not “good enough” perfect — actually perfect. This comes from years of service where details mattered, and old habits die hard (thankfully).

Whether he’s working with gorgeous reclaimed wood or collaborating with Dawn on those stunning resin and wood hybrid pieces, every creation gets the full DevilDoc treatment. Dawn prepares amazing blanks with her resin artistry, and Sar transforms them into functional art that’ll outlast us all.

From Saving Lives to Creating Heirlooms

The same hands that served in Sea Air Rescue operations now coax beauty from wood that others might have thrown away. Forty years of woodworking experience, combined with that military “failure is not an option” mindset, makes Sar one of those craftsmen you hear about in legends.

Every piece he creates carries that dedication — the kind where you can feel the care in your hands when you hold it.
