Description

Ever wonder what happens when Rex gets inspired by the dance of love and some beautiful Padauk cutoffs from our gift sets? You get this stunning hand-carved sculpture that proves waste isn’t in our vocabulary – and that love truly is universal.

Meet “Lovers Dance” – a piece that’s as much about the journey as the destination. These two figures, carved entirely by hand from reclaimed Padauk, dance together in perfect harmony. Their arms and legs form an upright heart, while their heads and other arms create an inverted heart above. Rex purposefully carved them without gender, because love is love, and this piece celebrates every kind of connection that makes life beautiful. It’s poetry in wood, and honestly, we’re a little obsessed with how he captured movement and emotion in every curve.

Here’s where it gets even more magical: this bright vermillion Padauk won’t stay this color forever. Over time, it will slowly age to a deep purple rosewood tone, creating an entirely new relationship with that rich walnut base. What starts as a striking contrast will eventually become a unified whole – kind of like a good marriage, if you think about it.

The walnut base (7″ x 5″ x 2¼”) started life as a cutoff from Woodworkers Source – because we believe every piece of beautiful wood deserves a second chance. With its live edge and natural knot at the front, it grounds these dancing lovers while showcasing the raw beauty that only comes from respecting wood’s natural character. The rest of that walnut? It became pen blanks, because in our workshop, nothing beautiful goes to waste.
