Description

Sometimes the most beautiful pieces come from the smallest scraps. This jewel-toned bowl started as a piece of padauk that most woodworkers would toss aside — but Rex saw something special in those vibrant coral-red tones and brought it to life on the lathe.

At just 2 inches across, this little beauty is what we call perfectly imperfect: it’s not meant to hold your soup or salad, but it’s absolutely perfect for corralling rings on your nightstand, holding your favorite earrings, keeping paper clips from escaping across your desk, or just catching the light on a sunny windowsill.

What Makes Padauk Special

Padauk is known for its stunning color — that rich coral-to-crimson hue that practically glows in natural light. The wood comes from Central and West Africa, and it’s prized by woodworkers for its fine grain and the way it finishes to a smooth, lustrous surface. Rex has brought out every bit of that natural warmth with careful turning and finishing.

The Details

  • Approximately 2″ diameter
  • Hand-turned from reclaimed padauk
  • Finished with food-safe oil for a soft, natural sheen
  • Each piece unique in grain pattern and color variation
  • Made with 40+ years of woodworking expertise

Perfect For

  • Ring dish for your nightstand or bathroom
  • Small jewelry holder
  • Desk accessories (paper clips, thumb tacks, tea bags)
  • Gift for someone who appreciates tiny treasures
  • Adding a pop of color to any small space

Because this piece is crafted from natural wood, your bowl’s exact grain pattern and color depth will be unique to you — padauk’s color can range from coral-orange to deep crimson, and often shows beautiful darker streaks throughout.
